FROM MATTER TO MEANING

Acquasanta Edizioni

A collection of unique artworks, created from a rare recovered stone, shaped by international artists into collectible pieces that translate geological memory through a curated quest for contemporary design.

From a dormant quarry to a cultural expression in form.

Acquasanta Edizioni transforms reclaimed Breccia Medicea into singular creations. Each piece is the result of a dialogue between material and artist, crafted into existence once, and once only.

01. Sustainability as origin.

Nothing is extracted. Everything is recovered to be revealed anew. Acquasanta Edizioni embraces sustainability as a primordial state of being.

The material used in Acquasanta Edizioni — Breccia Medicea — comes exclusively from existing fragments, stones that have remained untouched for decades, bearing their timeless, silent story.

This is the starting point of every artwork, approached through the concept of recovery as a way to incorporate natural history into its DNA. Irregular pieces, surface crusts, and residual matter are cracked open, studied, and eventually transformed, allowing what already exists to emerge again in a new form.

02. Millennials VS Millions of years.

New-generation artists craft contemporary visions by re-interpreting the essence of ancient matter, declaring the dual nature of the collection.

The artists commissioned by Acquasanta Edizioni are invited to work with a material that dates back over 200 million years, bringing to life the project’s defining dualism.
Present culture and geological memory. Immediacy and permanence.
Gesture and sedimentation.

Each art piece, therefore, becomes a point of tension between these dimensions, visually embodying a modern-day language that naturally gives form to what has existed long before it.

03. (Multi) Layers.

The beauty of Breccia Medicea stone lies in its perfectly imperfect aesthetic. Its non-uniformity is formed over 200 million years of stratification.

Composed of fragments, colors, and structures shaped over millennia, Breccia Medicea reveals an inherent irregularity. Every surface exposes a different depth. Every cut reveals a new configuration.

As the artists carve this primitive material, they interpret its internal layers, working with its hidden, multi-layered unpredictability in composition, perception, and meaning.
