“RUDIS” emerges from the encounter between a millenary geological material and a design practice grounded in continuity. Created exclusively for Don’t Call Me Collectible at Vestigia Villa Marie, the piece marks the first collaboration between Francesco Maria Messina and Acquasanta Edizioni.
The stone’s original morphology becomes the guiding principle of the composition. Its natural surfaces reveal a distinctive palette of soft pink tones, deep violet veins and grey-green mineral tracings shaped over millions of years.
Steel blades from the stone-cutting process are integrated into the composition, giving new purpose to elements that have reached the end of their industrial lifecycle. The same tools used to cut and divide the stone become structural and formal elements, passing through the material to generate the horizontal planes. Between the geometry of steel and the geological expression of the stone, RUDIS establishes a dialogue between industry and nature, transformation and continuity, sculptural presence and function.
